The blocks of ten week term classes continue to fly by at a frightening speed. But at least we have a lot to show for the time spent.
Well done to those committed students whose application to the challenging work this term resulted in a noticeable improvement in their acting, listening and communication skills.
Like anything of value, the more you do it, the better and more confident you become.
Term Dates
Term 1 ends on Saturday 9 April.
Term 2 commences from Tuesday 26 through to Saturday 30 April.
Student News
Voice Overs can be a lucrative income for those actors with the “right” voice.
Morrissey’s – the nations most well-known voice over agency – who along with a handful of other reputable actor/voice over agents, source a variety of quality work for their talent. In fact, there can be much higher income for voice over work as compared to on-set performance acting.
Former students Bobby Babin and Katy Tunbridge have been doing very well indeed with voice over work, adding additional fees to their on-screen performance income.
Whereas Bobby is doing just fine working out of Sydney, Katy, already established in Hollywood for a couple of years now, is making a tidy sum voicing over kids series, cartoons, TVC’S and TV drama.
While many actors exclusively chase acting gigs, they seem to be unaware that there are many other opportunities available. It’s simply training yourself to look outside the box.
Films Worth Seeing
If you have time over the semester break then here are two excellent films to catch up on.
(PG: 2022) A fun movie for all the family. I saw Sing 2 at the movies with two of my grand kids and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Outstanding animation and set pieces, along with fun and energetic characters.
(R: 2001) Sexy Beast along with The Long Good Friday, starring Bob Hoskins, is revered as one of the best British gangster flicks ever made. Sexy Beast has it all. Surrealism, grittiness, menace, romance and suspense. The opening sequence of the boulder rolling down the hillside is as good as it gets. You won’t forget it. The editing of the opening sequence is also an homage to the climactic scene from Clint Eastwood’s Play Misty for Me (1973.)
Class Scene USB’s/DVD’S
If you would like an edited copy of this past term’s scenes, then see me in class or email me and I’ll organise it for you.
Class scene USB’S are $50.00 per term’s on-camera scenes, or the same fee for a selection of your favourite five scenes from current or previous term’s.
Further study of your work at home is a highly beneficial means of improving your communication, collaboration, listening and reacting skills. Vital skills for acting and for life in general.
Have a fun and safe two week semester break and I look forward to working with you again next term when classes return from 26 to 30 April.
