The staff and I had no idea what would happen business wise after the 14 week lock-down, but with the single minded application of hard work and creative promotion we’ve managed to come back as strong as ever.
Being a small business owner myself, I can’t help but sympathise with the many small businesses who failed this year due to these troubling economic times.
No matter how you do it, you must find the role and the myriad of emotions that are required to play the part successfully. Using triggers to find the required emotions are used by many well-known actors, including the multi-talented Hugh Jackman.
Term Dates
Term 3 completes week ending Saturday 19 September.
Term 4 commences from Tuesday 6 October through to Saturday 10 October.
Book the Role Master Class Review
Tutor Peter Phelps’ Book the Role master class was highly instructive for the participating students and they learned valuable lessons from a master actor when it comes to gaining the edge on screen tests/auditions.
Congratulations to Peter Morrissey-Smith, Martin Cizek, Troy Soghomonian, Emily Angell, Ella Kramer, Jackson Gourlay, Luka Pusic and Meredith Cox for completing the full day course with flying colours.
Student News
Well done to Emily Angell for winning one of the lead roles in a new feature film which will have national and international release upon its completion. It’s all a bit hush hush until production commences in a couple of weeks time but from the few scenes that Emily showed me, the film is very edgy and dark indeed, as it details the lifetime psychological damage that a psycho sexual cult can have on its members.
From the moment the director met Emily he knew he had the perfect actor for the difficult role, as Emily had the attitude, talent and the look required.
Meanwhile Peter Morrissey-Smith has been no slouch either, scoring two high profile TVC’s in almost as many weeks. Peter is front and centre in a Real Insurance TVC and a Step One Underwear TVC.
Can’t wait to see you in your undies mate. Not! Ha ha.
Class Scene DVD’s/USB’s
If you would like an edited copy of this past term’s on-camera scenes on DVD or USB then see me in class and I’ll organise it for you.
Further study of your class scenes at home is a sure fire way of improving your performance and technique – and to understand how editing shapes and defines your work.
