The first term of the year has seen a noticeable improvement among our most committed students and the progress has been very encouraging indeed. We have more challenging scenes lined up for Term 2 along with a few surprises. Stay tuned!
To be an actor who everyone wants to work with you need to be skilled, professional and fully committed to your craft. Having a free instrument is vital and going with your impulses allows you to stretch and to grow.
As Jack Nicholson says below, if a spur of the moment impulse doesn’t work, then it’s simply “Take 2.” No sweat. At least you tried something different and interesting.

Term Dates
Term 1 ends on Saturday 10 April and Term 2 classes commence from Tuesday 27 April through to Saturday 1 May.
Saturday Mixed Ages Class
The popular mixed ages class will resume again this term. The class has a separate curriculum from all of the other classes and allows for teen and adult students to work together, thereby opening up the casting potential with the use of mixed aged scenes.
The class is also ideal as a second class for students to attend each week and develop their on-camera skills more quickly. The class runs from 3 to 5.30 pm and commences on 1 May. Students who attend the class as their second class of term receive a 10% discount on the fees.
Screen Test Master Class Review
The screen test/audition process master class, held on Sunday 7 March and tutored by Charlotte Denton, was a huge learning curve for the participating students and the overall improvement in their approach and screen testing skills were impressive. The students rose to the occasion and their commitment and approach to the challenging course was laudable.
Charlotte Denton
Well done to students Martin Cizek, Elsa Jackson, Charlotte Austin, Emelia Murray and Tom Fletcher for completing the challenging course.
Course tutor Charlotte Denton was impressed by the attitude and professionalism displayed by the students. Charlotte’s own professional approach was on full display herself when, after a full day’s tutoring on Sunday, she had a 4.30 am call time the next day for an acting gig with Chris Hemsworth.
Hideaway Film Acting Master Class Review
The film acting master class, held during mid-January, produced the short film Hideaway, the story of a vicious gangster – in league with a corrupt detective – who creates an unholy mess when he murders a drug dealing rival.
Screen grabs from the Hideaway film …
Carl cautiously answers the door at the safe house
Carl with Martin, the corrupt drug squad detective who is supposedly keeping Carl safe
Carl’s daughter and his niece and nephew only add to the mess Carl is in
The film was a joy to produce and edit and the end result was impressive thanks to the talented cast of students who performed their respective roles with passion and verve.
Well done to the cast of Martin Cizek, Michael Haselden, Charlotte Austin, Tom Fletcher and Jessica Shearer for their commitment and contribution.
