It’s one thing to apply for a full-time acting course after completing high school when you have plenty of free time and access to resources such as Hex, Austudy or Abstudy.
But what if you’re a mature age student? How can you learn how to act while juggling a full-time job and family commitments?
If you have three full days a week free then you could always attend a short full-time intensive course, the best of which usually run for 20 weeks.
If you have a lot of commitments and are time poor, then the only other alternative is part-time study, which only entails a commitment of a couple of hours each week, either in an evening or a weekend class.
I’ve trained young and mature age students in both full-time and part-time courses, many of whom are now well-known faces. But however you manage to educate yourself the end result is the same if you commit yourself 100% to the task.
Acting is fun but it isn’t easy as it takes real skill to capture truthful moments on-screen.
